About

I planned my contribution as a celebration of the village during lockdown. The central figure is a scarecrow from the annual Kington Langley Scarecrow Festival which was cancelled, like so many events, but the village rallied with painted stones to brighten walks; rainbow making; the Community Help Group supporting our infirm, isolating and elderly; the local Crowzone radio station, the village school Langley Fitzurse represented by Fitzy the bear, and the monthly village magazine, edited, written and distributed by village residents. We clapped for the NHS, held socially distanced VE Day parties and BYO drinks, walked and cycled and held conversations at two metres apart. The piece is appliquéd new and scrap fabrics with hand embroidery on a cotton ground
